As the name suggests, this hotel is very British in feeling. Since
opening in 1870, it has offered its guests comfortable lodgings and
excellent service in a location that’s convenient to everything. The
interior is all dark wood and plaid, and the reading room is a pleasant
spot to relax with a magazine or guide book. English and American
channels are available via cable television. Good value for money
considering the central location.
The location here just off the Rue de Rivoli is ideal for shopping, the
Pompidou Center and Les Halles. The 19 rooms are decorated in the
manner of an 18th-century noble’s town house. The rooms have been
recently renovated and now include spic and span bathrooms and small
safes.
Named for the tapestry in the stone-walled breakfast room, the Aubusson
is one of the most romantic hotels in the Left Bank. The lovely lobby
has beamed ceilings and a huge fireplace. And it’s a brief stroll to
the Seine, Notre Dame or the Louvre. There are new and old rooms here,
the latter offering fewer amenities but more character. During the
summer, breakfast and drinks are served in the pretty courtyard.

This 17th-century townhouse hotel offers excellent value for money in
the Marais. Walking distance to the Pompidou Center, Les Halles, and
the Picasso Museum, the Bretonnerie is stylish and well-kept. Wooden
beams and stone walls add character and bright colors add flair. Mini
bars and cable TV are unexpected extras.
This cute hotel provides good value in the Latin Quarter, a few blocks
from the Seine. Rooms are small and simple, but clean and well kept.
And the location is very nice for the money.
The Ile St-Louis is a wonderful place to stay -- quiet, residential, and
spitting distance from Notre Dame and the Latin Quarter. Hotel des Deux
Iles occupies a 17th-century townhouse on rue St-Louis-en-l’Ile.
Charming and comfortable, it has a pretty courtyard and many loyal fans,
so book well in advance.
One of the most popular -- and stylish -- hotels in the Latin Quarter,
the Jardins du Luxembourg has 27 nicely done rooms, some with
balconies. Service is cordial and the ambience is hip and lively.
Located on the Ile St-Louis, the Jeu de Paume was a 17th-century tennis
court. Today, the hotel is one of the most architecturally interesting
in the city. Three-hundred-year-old beams support the central room
which opens onto a courtyard garden. There’s a fireplace in the lobby,
a billiard room, and an antique gallery. The 31 rooms are stylish and
modern and the property was recently renovated.
The location right on the Left Bank of the Seine is the big draw here --
Notre Dame and St. Germain des Pres are minutes away. With just 10
pretty rooms, les Rives seems more like a private townhouse than a
hotel. Stylish, understated, and intimate, this is a very nice little
property.
Centrally located in the Marais, not far from the Pompidou Centre and
Notre Dame, the Hotel Saint Merry is located in the former presbytery of
Saint Merry Church. The 17th-century Gothic interior has been nicely
restored and the arches, oak beams, and stone walls give this property
lots of atmosphere. Two rooms have shared baths, the rest have private
facilities.
Located in a 16th-century townhouse extensively restored in 1990, the Relais
Christine offers a little bastion of peace and quiet on the Left Bank.
A lovely courtyard buffers the hotel from the street and several of the
rooms have balconies overlooking it. Although not outrageous by Paris
standards, the Relais Christine is expensive, but most who stay will
agree that its worth the money.
Expectorating distance from the east end of the Louvre, this stylish
hotel is one of the best-located properties in its price range. Some of
the colorful rooms open onto an inner courtyard. The larger rooms with
sitting area are worth the added expense.
