Occupying the top two floors of a 16th-century palace, Beacci Tornabuoni seems to have been lifted from A Room with A View. Many of the rooms do have them, mostly of the rooftops. But the real draw here is the terrace restaurant and roof garden. This attractive pensione successfully combines old and new, and most clients will find this an enjoyable spot.
Occupying the top three floors of a palazzo, the rooms here are clean and comfortable. But the real appeal is the location, close to the Duomo. Top floor rooms have breathtaking views and breakfast is much better than usual. Very well located for the money.
This luxe property is one of the best -- and most expensive -- in town. Formal, refined, and offering impeccable service, the Helvetia is our pick for those who prefer grand hotels.
Just ten minutes' walk from the Accademia, the Regency occupies two 19th-century mansions on a lovely piazza. Service is superb, and the property is quieter than most. The garden restaurant here is one of the best in town.
The centuries old palazzo was completely renovated several years ago. Today, it's a charming place to stay with many Renaissance features tastefully restored. The hotel's service is better than most and the gardens behind the property are very pleasant.
Located on lovely Piazza Santissima, Loggiato del Serviti is a dead-ringer for Bruenelleschi's Ospedale degli Innocenti on the opposite side of the square. The 16th-century monastery was restored three years ago and turned into one of Florence's most appealing hotels.
Occupying a former monastery, the Morandi alla Crocetta is nicely located off Piazza Santissima Annuniziata, one of Florence's most attractive squares. This little charmer offers all the comforts of a Patrician Florentine home and very good value for money. You'll need to make reservations early to nab one of the ten rooms here.
For those who prefer to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Torre di Bellosguardo is just the ticket. The name means "tower of the beautiful views," and the location on a hill 15 minutes' walk from town is wonderful. After a full day of shopping or sightseeing, the pool and gardens are most welcome.
