Place's to eat in Napa Valley's charming Yountville.
Nine miles north of Napa, California, the sleepy little town of Yountville - population 3,019 - has the best dining per capita of any place in the world. In fact, there are four Michelin-starred restaurants along a six-block stretch of Washington Street. And it goes without saying that the wine lists are stellar.
One of only two American restaurants outside New York to boast three Michelin stars, The French Laundry is considered by many to be the top table in the country. To dine here, you'll need to make reservations two months in advance, to the day, and be prepared to spend $240 per person for Chef Thomas Keller's nine-course tasting or vegetarian menu.
Down the street, Keller's more casual Bouchon would be equally at home on the Left Bank. With one Michelin star, a raw bar, and simple dishes like Gigot d'Agneau, Steak Frites, and Poulet Roti, Bouchon offers delicious bistro fare and great value for money. You can dine in the restaurant, at the bar, or on the patio.
Another Keller venture, Ad Hoc, began as an experiment. When the restaurant opened, it offered a single four-course family-style dinner based on what was fresh that day. The concept was so popular that it soon became permanent. The day's menu is posted at http://www.adhocrestaurant.com/menu.php.
In most towns, one Michelin-starred French bistro would be sufficient. But not in Yountville, where Bistro Jeanty offers traditional French dishes like Pieds de Cochon Persilles (pig's trotters) and Cassoulet. There's also a lovely patio for those warm summer nights.
Redd, Chef Richard Reddington's contemporary restaurant, has an eclectic menu with Asian, Mexican, and Mediterranean influences. The five-course tasting menu is a reasonable $75 per person. With wine, it's $120. Expect the best local ingredients, impeccably prepared.
The newcomer to the Yountville dining scene is Bottega, Chef/TV personality/lifestyle guru Michael Chiarello's restaurant in the
Vintage Estates complex. Adjacent to Chiarello's flagship Napa Style store, Bottega features dishes from all over Italy, the best of which are roasted or grilled over wood. Green Eggs and Ham on Cambazola Crema is as delicious as it is unexpected.

Now that is one heck of a review. And that meal sounds very, very familiar ;) I agree – a great deal and an amazing dinner. I’ll definitely be back.
