Tasting Irish cheese in Dublin.
The California Cheese Board says "great cheese comes from happy cows." And apparently, that same theory applies to Irish dairy products.
Frequent rain and moderate temperatures allow cows to graze on an all-you-can-eat buffet of green grass virtually all year long. And today, Irish butter and cheese are recognized around the world for their quality.
If you're going to Dublin, there are several places where you can sample the best Irish dairy products.
Sheridan's Cheesemongers has two locations in Dublin. Brothers Seamus and Kevin Sheridan started out selling artisinal cheeses at the Galway Saturday Market. In 1997, they opened their first Dublin store on South Anne Street, off Dawson. In addition to 20 Irish cheeses, Sheridan's also stocks cheeses from England, France, and half a dozen European countries. There's a second location on Pembroke Lane.
