Barge accommodations in Paris.

Not long ago we wrote a post about Bateau Simpatico -- luxury barge accommodations in Paris practically at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. We loved our stay there and highly recommend it to anyone who plans to spend a week in Paris. With a beautiful living room, fully tricked-out kitchen, shower, washing machine, and topside deck right on the Seine, it has everything for a memorable week in the City of Light.

More information is available at http://www.quai48parisvacation.com.

If you plan to spend less that a week in Paris and you don't want to break the bank, there's another floating alternative -- Bateau Johanna. Docked in front of the Tuileries gardens, a short stroll from the Musee d'Orsay, Bateau Johanna offers affordable bed and breakfast accommodations aboard a 1936 barge. Two small bedrooms and a sitting room are rented out as a suite. And breakfast is served to guests each morning in the wheelhouse.

With rates starting at 95€ a night for two people, it's a good value too. Just be prepared to bounce around. The Bateaux Mouches sightseeing boats really throw off some wake. For more information or to make a reservation, visit http://www.bateau.johanna.free.fr/johanna%20english/index.html
