Lower fares to Australia coming soon.
Not long ago, we told you about how the Open Skies Agreement paved the way for additional carriers to fly between the U.S. and Europe. As new carriers added routes, they often introduced them with terrific fares.Last month, the U.S. and Australia reached a similar agreement that opens the United and Qantas trans-Pacific routes to competitors. First to join the fray will probably be V Australia, part of the Virgin Blue Group. They've purchased seven new Boeing 777s and expect to start service in November, 2008.
